Partnership announcement: Notification Implementation By Wherever
We are thrilled to announce our latest partnership with Wherever, a wallet-to-wallet communication platform designed to establish communication and interaction between security researchers and Hats applications without doxxing or spamming.
About the partnership
Currently, when security researchers are searching for bugs in our bug bounty vaults, they have to manually open every contract in scope, which is not only time consuming, but can also make them miss important updates and changes of contracts. With Wherever, hackers can stay-up-to-date with the latest happenings within their preferred spheres, receiving wallet-to-wallet communication when new vaults are made available or contract updates occur. This feature not only keeps users informed, but also enables hackers to get notified to the channels they’re already using like telegram and email, while ensuring no one has access to their sensitive information — including Hats.
To deliver wallet-to-wallet notifications, and ensure a decentralized relay and storage, Wherever relies on the Push Protocol (formerly EPNS). Decentralized notifications also provide the emerging Web3 ecosystem with the benefits of a robust notification ecosystem without the exploitative or centralized drawbacks of Web2 notifications. The combination of both protocols allow users to receive decentralized wallet-to-wallet notifications, control what notifications they receive, and where they receive them, giving them the option to get notified via email and Telegram.
Wherever ensures the wallet holder is in fact the owner of the web2 account by requiring both a wallet signature and a per-channel verification process. Users’ addresses are encrypted both in transit and in rest using AES encryption. Clients cannot fetch a user’s addresses unless the user signs a message proving ownership of the wallet. Users are in full control of their data and can disconnect and remove their addresses at any time using the Wherever widget. Web2 addresses are not shared with Hats, only with the email provider (PostMark) and Telegram, and only for the purpose of sending messages — addresses are NEVER shared with any other parties.
How it works:
To subscribe to Hats notifications, you can follow these simple steps:
- Open the Hats dApp and click on the bell icon (you can opt-out any time)
- Click Subscribe
- Sign the smart contract required for the wallet to wallet interaction
- Enter your telegram and email to stay notified on the go (optional)
- Manage your notifications by clicking on the bell icon
How to opt-out
- Inside of the Wherever widget, head over to Settings by clicking the cog (⚙️) icon.
- Click the “Account” dropdown menu
- Press the “Unsubscribe” button
- Sign the message in your wallet and opt-out
To remove your telegram and email you can follow the Unsubscribe link in any one of the emails received by Wherever and remove your email address from Wherever’s servers indefinitely. To remove your telegram handle, go to Settings on the notification widget in the dApp you used to connect it, and remove it. Alternatively, reach out to us at hello@wherever.im.
